‘Transfer Parties’ Planned At DSLCC This Fall

A series of “transfer parties” for students interested in transferring to four-year colleges or universities have been scheduled by the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Achievement Center this fall, both on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus and at the DSLCC

Summer School PE Not So Popular

Fewer students enrolled in summer school at Rockbridge County High School last summer, even though taking physical education, health or driver’s education in the summer has traditionally been a popular way to take these courses and leave space open for other classes during the regular school year.

Enrollment Up In County Schools

Fifty-three more students now attend Rockbridge County schools than were enrolled at the end of last year, and almost 90 more students go to county schools than were anticipated when the budget for the current year was created. That’s good news for the school division’s budget, because school revenues from state resources are based on enrollment, specifically the Average Daily Membership number as of March 31.

No Nap Time Now For Kindergarteners

Quietly, quietly, nap time has tiptoed away from the kindergarten “curriculum.” In answer to a question from the School Board, Central Elementary Principal Ryan Barber confirmed that nap time was omitted from the 5-year-olds’ day two years ago.
